我的孙子 - TJ TJ And The Blackberry Patch

The bushes were full of thorns and grew close together. It looked like a perfect place for snakes to hide. Later in the summer, there would be berries where the blossoms had been. I had always wanted to clear out the mess so we could pick the berries in the middle of the patch because they looked much bigger. But, we were afraid to go too far into the bushes, so we just picked berries along the edges. We had to leave the bigger berries for the birds. It is always good to share what we have with others, especially when you have more than you need. It is not wise to be wasteful.

I recalled that day so long ago when TJ was just a little boy and we were going to pick blackberries. As I walked along to meet my husband and our dog, I thought, it is nice to have memories when you get old. My grandson was growing up too fast for me.

I remembered that we had almost reached the top of the hill but I was getting very tired and had to stop for a short while. Little TJ was afraid that I was going to quit and not continue. He said, "Come on grandmother, it is just a little further. You can do it! I can see it from here." And because of his begging, I took a deep breath and we continued our journey up the hill. When we reached the top, I rested and TJ filled our basket with blackberries from the patch.
